Green light given to Hungarian meat in the New World
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, after on-site inspections carried out by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service in Hungary, more Hungarian meat products have been given the green light to be exported to the USA. From 22 August we can also export fresh and frozen meat and non-heat treated meat products to the US market. Non-heat treated products include cured products such as sausage and salami. The fact that we are now allowed to export raw products to the USA means that the food chain safety level is very high in Hungary. The US decision creates new opportunities for Hungarian meat producers, for instance Pápa Meat is expanding its product range targeting the US market, trying to offset the negative effects of the Russian embargo.
