The harvest is going on, let’s be careful on the roads!
The harvest is taking place all over the country, which is why there are more agricultural machinery in traffic, which requires increased attention from all drivers – Minister of Agriculture István Nagy called attention to on his social media page.
The head of the ministry reminded that the harvesting of the fields started much earlier this year, at the beginning of June, with the harvesting of the early autumn barley. The country’s bread is guaranteed again this year, for which we owe special thanks to all farmers, he added.
István Nagy also touched on the fact that, as a result of the summer harvesting work, motorists can often encounter agricultural machines on the roads
The minister is therefore asking for more attention from road users. In order to avoid accidents and drive safely, show increased patience with combine harvesters, tractors, and transport vehicles, and drive more carefully if you notice them. Traffic can be congested behind agricultural machines moving at low speeds. Drivers of vehicles traveling at higher speeds should therefore only start overtaking if the maneuver can be safely carried out and the section of road required to complete it is clearly visible. Large machines should be approached with extra caution and moderate speed, being prepared for a possible change of direction – warned the head of the ministry.
The minister expects that, due to this year’s weather, the summer harvest work may be completed much earlier than usual
At the same time, it is important that the crops reach their destinations as soon as possible from the fields. The successful harvest, as well as the diligence and perseverance of the farmers, all contribute to the safe food supply of our country, for which we cannot be grateful enough to the actors of the sector, underlined the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
