Your cooks are professionals
In the last 10 years it became a big business to deliver portioned ingredients for home cooking. The trend entered Hungary 2-3 years ago. In the USA this service is worth nearly USD 3 billion a year, and not only restaurants but also enterprises specialise in this field. There are more and more consumers who use this kind of service. This trend is perfectly in line with the growing popularity of convenience products, the need for a diverse diet and the use of fresh local produce.
As an added value, people don’t have to do the ‘dirty work’ when they are cooking. Not only cooking ingredients are delivered: the recommended wines, cocktails or soft drinks can also be ordered. This spring Coca-Cola started cooperating with Chef’d, one of the sector’s biggest players, so now the beverage company’s products are paired with the dishes to be cooked by the service’s users.
Why is this home delivery service good for a restaurant? Well, in the USA a growing number of people start to subscribe to a cooking ingredient home delivery service (usually paying USD 14-15/portion). This way the time when restaurant staff isn’t busy can be utilised very well. Amazon has also entered the ingredient delivery business. In the June test period their ‘From the box to the table in 30 minutes’ service was so popular that after a few days they had to stop taking new orders. Television personality Martha Stewart has also decided to enter the cooking ingredient home delivery business. //
