Having fun and networking for the fifth time
On the evening of 15 November we gathered for the fifth time in the Grand Hotel on Margaret Island to meet and greet – and to do a bit of networking. Ten or five years ago the majority of participants were from the young generation, but today I see more grey-haired people. There is a group of people here who also keep in touch outside of VUKK (Former Unilever Network) and they know they can always count on each other. Trend researcher Dr Mária Törőcsik spoke about the trends that will characterise 2013.
This presentation was followed by discussions, which shed light on interesting things about career building. We got to hear the story of Zsolt Tőtös, who decided to leave Borsodi in the summer. After 21 years of working in international executive positions, Zsolt decided to quit and follow his dreams. His example shows that one doesn’t always have to follow the beaten path. While having an excellent dinner, further discussions followed and we heard the success stories of three other former Unilever employees. We learned about the career of Andrea Szabó, who is currently with Volksbank, Csongor Német who is now the CEO of MédiaMarkt-Saturn and András Gyenes, who has been working in the ranks of Unilever for more than 20 years and has been recently appointed CEO. 2013 will bring changes in the life of VUKK as well, things will turn but not 360, only 180 degrees. Until then our network keeps working, the VUKK list has been recently updates and sent to members.
