Disease detected in case of only one ruminating animal in Hungary – the press office of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) responded to the Saturday news that Belarus introduced temporary restrictions on the import and transit of cattle, sheep, and goats from Hungary, due to an epizootic disease appeared and allegedly spread further from Germany in 2011.
The White Russian veterinary service justified the decision that animals were found in Hungary that are carrying the Schmallenberg virus.
The VM press office told MTI: “In Hungary, only one animal was observed with the disease, which was reported by the Ministry of Rural Development to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).”
The agricultural ministry effectively manages the situation – they said, and added that more information will be provided on Monday. (MTI)
