VM-Minister of State: venison may be included in public catering

Annually 12 thousand tons of venison is marketed in Hungary. To stimulate demand the ministry is examining the possibility of the involvement of venison in public catering – Kardeván Endre said Minister of State of the Ministry of Rural Development told in Bak, Zala county on Saturday.

Kardeván Endre added that the wild boar population has increased to never seen levels. In the 2012-2013 hunting year, hunters shot 148 thousand wild boars in Hungary.

A large amount of venison is expected to be marketed on both the domestic and international markets, so the ministry supports the increase of level in processing. (MTI)
