Airlines are being investigated for gross delays
The government office in the capital announced that it has launched an official inspection against the airlines Ryanair, Wizz Air, SunExpress and Eurowings, after several significant delays were experienced in recent days. The official statement presented by MTI did not detail the individual cases, but there have been several incidents recently that caused considerable inconvenience to passengers.
In one such case, dozens of fans missed the Hungarian national team’s European Championship match against Scotland due to the delay of the Eurowings flight to Stuttgart. The passengers of Wizz Air encountered a similar problem, as they did not get there in time for the football match against Switzerland due to the delay of the flight to Dortmund.
The government office’s investigation is aimed at whether the affected airlines have fully complied with the EU legislation on informing passengers and providing them with the assistance they are entitled to. If a violation of the law is suspected during the investigation, the office will initiate the necessary procedures against the airlines concerned.
This audit highlights the importance of airlines managing scheduled operations responsibly and communicating appropriately to passengers, especially when significant delays are foreseeable. In order to protect the rights of passengers, it is important that these types of measures take place quickly and efficiently to minimize the damage and inconvenience caused by delays.
