Another retro soft drink brand has returned to the domestic market: Márka Üdítőgyártó Kft. restarted the distribution of RÓNA soft drinks in August 2025.

RÓNA was one of the most popular domestic soft drinks in the 1970s and 1980s and was a dominant player in the Hungarian beverage market. The products now being reintroduced to the market are available in the classic flavors – cola and orange – and are packaged in 2-liter PET bottles. The aim of the return is to serve the increased demand for retro products and to give consumers the opportunity to recall the flavors of their childhood.

RÓNA occupies a special place within Márka’s portfolio, as it was part of everyday life in the eighties for many. Márka Üdítőgyártó Kft. has made investments worth more than 12 billion forints in recent years. Thanks to the developments, the company’s production has been continuously expanding: in 2025, it will employ 184 people, and its annual net sales will exceed 24 billion forints.

Hungarian traditions in a new guise

The company currently produces around 80 types of soft drinks, including the Márka, Traubisoda, Gyöngy, Adrenalin and Kobra brands. Part of the range is specifically aimed at reviving Hungarian traditions, while the products are now available in 17 countries.

With the relaunch of RÓNA, Márka has once again brought an iconic brand back to store shelves, which, in addition to its retro feel, is also an integral part of the company’s growth strategy.
