Japanese eyewear retailer fits into virtual try-on trend
Jins Eyewear is the latest specialty eyewear retailer to enhance its online shopping experience with augmented reality (AR) technology.
The leading Japanese eyewear brand, which entered the U.S. market in 2018, is launching an AR-enabled “online mirror” solution that enables customers to virtually try on glasses online. Jins is following in the footsteps of several other eyewear retailers which have implemented various forms of AR-based digital try-on technology, including Warby Parker, GlassesUSA, and Fitz Frames.
From any mobile or desktop device and without app download, customers look straight into their device camera and slowly rotate their head left and right to record a selfie. Customers then hold a standard card against their forehead for size reference, and can use the tool to virtually see how an assortment of over 1,800 eyewear styles would look on their face.
