Sausages, hot dogs, ready-to-eat: SPAR expands its offering spectacularly

SPAR is simultaneously strengthening its own-brand meat products and expanding its range of fast, ready-to-eat meals, while also paying special attention to quality assurance and the development of production capacities. SPAR hot dogs are arriving, and Regnum Kölyök products have also been renewed.

SPAR’s own-brand meat products play a decisive role in the category: they represent the second largest product range among processed meats, which also shows significant annual sales and volume growth. Nearly 500 employees and a dedicated product development team work in the company’s Bicske and Perbál plants to ensure that the products quickly and flexibly follow consumer needs.

More conscious customers, growing “free” trend

Consumer trends clearly point towards more health-conscious, high-meat and additive-free products, while there is also a continuous increase in the range aimed at children.

Accordingly, the recipe of the popular Regnum Kölyök peeled sausage has also been renewed, which is now made with 84% meat content (74% pork, 10% beef) and does not contain added preservatives, colorings, flavor enhancers or phosphates, and is also gluten, lactose and soy free. The product has achieved sales of more than 155 thousand units since its introduction (between March 2025 and January 2026), which clearly shows the growing demand for more conscious choices. The cheese version has also been renewed: the 75% meat sausage is now made with Emmental cheese (11%), thus offering an even richer taste experience tailored to children’s tastes.

The sausage range also includes a new duopack sausage with sheep’s intestines and cheddar cheese, which is available in 360 gram packages with an 80% meat content.

Hot-dogs and street food: entry into new categories

The demand for fast, on-the-go food has grown dynamically in recent years, which also determines SPAR’s development directions. Taking these trends into account, the company is also strengthening its presence in new product categories: freshly made hot dogs are now available in designated SPAR toGo units, which are currently available in 5 test stores and will be available in additional units by May 2026. The high-meat sausages used for hot dogs are made in cheddar cheese, classic and Hungarian flavors. According to plans, these products will appear on store shelves in May 2026.

Home grill and convenience solutions

In response to home consumption trends, SPAR is also innovating in the mini hamburger category: from April, mini hamburger patties made of pork will be available, which will be offered in packages of 6 pieces. The company will offer these together with small hamburger buns specially developed for them. The coordinated development of the two categories is another example of how SPAR responds quickly and comprehensively to market demands.

Ultra-fresh and ready-to-eat: double-digit growth

The enjoy. convenience product family has also undergone significant expansion: currently around 60 products are available in the range, however, including seasonal items, the SPAR plant in Üllő already produces nearly 90 types of products annually. The ultra-fresh and ready-to-eat category is showing double-digit growth, especially among the younger generation, for whom fast yet quality meal solutions are increasingly important.

Developments at the beginning of the year include the gyros bowl, the vegetable menu, and several new ultra-fresh desserts, including rice pudding, cottage cheese dumplings and various flavored glass desserts. Other novelties have also appeared in the range, such as the Poppy Dream and the coffee-flavored glass dessert. In the “quick and delicious” category, new sandwiches and seasonal products – such as the spring horseradish baguette – are diversifying the range. The Páros Gourmet sandwich, as a special, open sandwich solution, brings new color to the pre-packaged products market.
