Growing competition for talents
The latest Randstad Award study reveals that the Hungarian FMCG industry isn’t the most attractive sector any more: services and the automotive industry draw more job seekers. In the top 20 major employers we find two FCMG manufacturers (Nestlé and Pick) and one retailer (dm). As for the labour market, last year more than 30,000 workers left the country and the competition for those who stayed and are talented as well is becoming stronger. Big firms are waiting for graduates with spectacular campaigns and internship programmes.
Demand isn’t only great for those with a university degree: a skilled manual worker can easily find a job these days – and west of our borders they are paid net EUR 1,500 a month… At the same time it is bad news for managers above the age of 40 that Hungary is losing its position in the regional management matrix, local offices are run by managers younger than 35 – for half the salary a senior manager would get.
