Students from hospitality vocational schools saved the valuables of the Danube-side hotel
It was a very nice example of professional cooperation that the residents of Óbuda could see during this year’s Danube flood.
More than two dozen students from two catering vocational schools packed sandbags together with the employees of the hotel and kitchen located not far from the river, jointly saving the building and the movables that could be carried out from its lower floors. – I called two schools for help – said the owner of the business, who did not want to be named, with emotion – and their leaders sent the students who volunteered as quickly as possible, who then fought hard with us during the flood protection preparatory work. I would also like to thank Zoltán Kóbor, director of the Gundel Károly Hospitality and Tourism Technical School, and Natália Baloghné Tóth, director of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service’s Óbudai Vocational High School and Vocational Middle School, for their support, and of course the boys and their teachers who selflessly helped with the protection – and successfully, because despite the high water level, we did not suffer any significant damage.
