Finally a growth in household chemical and cosmetics volume sales
Last year retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics were worth HUF 333 billion, 6 percent more than in 2013. It was back in 2010 that volume sales had grown for the last time. Last year finally brought volume sales growth again – sales were up 2 percent. Diaper, fabric softener and toothpaste values sales grew by 9 percent each, laundry detergent sales were up 8 percent and toilet paper sales augmented by 7 percent. Nielsen client service director Mónika Barta pointed out that in Q1 2014 they still registered a small decline in volume sales (from the base period level) but later the trend turned around and by Q4 2014 volume sales were 3 percent bigger than in the last three months of 2013. Stores with a floor space bigger than 400m² realised 86 percent of household chemical and cosmetics value sales (no change). Sales improved in all regions but the growth was above the average, 9 percent in the North West
