Finally, some good news: tourism has recovered after covid
The increase in guest nights dropped to 14.6% from 58% in the previous month, due to the gradual lifting of restrictions against the epidemic a year ago, but the sector’s firm recovery after Covid continued. Within this, the number of guest nights for domestic guests increased by 10%, as many more people could choose to vacation abroad, but at the same time, the number of guest nights for foreigners continued to increase robustly, by 118%, which shows the rapid return of foreign guests.

A 15 percent of increase
The sales revenue of the hotels thus increased by 26% in July compared to a year ago. Although the data show substantial improvement, the recovery is still only partial compared to pre-epidemic levels, but at the same time, domestic tourism fully recovered in the summer months of last year, resulting in a high base. In the first seven months, the number of guest nights increased by a total of 106%, including domestic ones by 55% and foreigners by 290%.
With the gradual opening last May, the turnover of the accommodation facilities significantly increased, until then the accommodation data continued to show outstanding growth on an annual basis. As a result of the abatement of the epidemic and the high level of vaccination, almost all restrictions were lifted in many countries, which is why this year started with favorable prospects, and more and more overseas flights are starting to return. The turnover of the accommodation facilities was also stimulated by the huge unsatisfied demand that had accumulated, a marked increase in the desire to travel can be observed worldwide, and a historic peak is expected in some tourist destinations.
