Veganuary
The Veganuary – vegan January – initiative started in the United Kingdom in 2014. By now the Responsible Gastro Hero Foundation has also joined the movement. Head of communications Eszter Kiss-Szabó told: in January they were trying to persuade people to eat food that is local, seasonal and plant-based. She underlined that we can’t talk about sustainable eating without cutting down on meat and dairy product consumption.
One thing is for sure: we can be certain to find vegan dishes on the menu cards of restaurants with a Sustainable Restaurant certification – Fruccola, KIOSK Budapest, Szabad Bisztró, Bartók Pagony, La Mimosa, Four Bites catering and Mezna all joined the campaign. Petra Saás, the owner of Fruccola told that they keep adding vegetarian and vegan dishes to the restaurant’s offering, and every Monday the daily menu is completely meat-free. //
