Louis Delhaize to buy
The European Commission has announced it has cleared Belgian retailer group, Louis Delhaize SA's proposed acquisition of Hungarian hypermarket retailer, Magyar Hipermarket Kft.
Louis Delhaize is a privately owned company, which through its various
subsidiaries is active in food and non-food retailing in France, Belgium,
Luxembourg, Hungary, Romania and the French West Indies.
"The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede
effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial
part of it," the EU executive said in a statement.
