Balázs Várkonyi spoke about the challenges and future of domestic e-commerce
In parallel with the rapid development of e-commerce and the decline of the covid epidemic, the market for second-hand products has also strengthened significantly. Balázs Várkonyi, CEO of Vatera.hu and Jófogás.hu, spoke about this in an interview with Pénzcentrum. Várkonyi pointed out that in many places around the world, including Hungary, more and more stores based on the Marketplace model are being built.
During the interview, Várkonyi’s withdrawal from eMAG and the success story of Extreme Digital were discussed. He revealed that at Extreme Digital they had been preparing the exit strategy for a long time, and as part of the cooperation with the eMAG group, the sale of Extreme Digital took place last year. After that, Várkonyi turned to Jófogás.hu and Vatera.hu, as he saw the huge growth potential of the market for second-hand products.
Speaking about the future of e-commerce, Várkonyi highlighted the great opportunities of C2C, i.e. trade between consumers, the growth of which continued even after the Covid epidemic. He also talked about the conquest of Temu and the introduction of mandatory postal delivery.
