There is food, the price of which has been reduced by almost half
With the return of the heatwave, the recent rainy weather has led to high humidity, resulting in abundant mushrooms in the forests of Zala and Vas counties – attracting not only fungi but also mushroom hunters. The key is to know how to handle forest mushrooms promptly, as advised by a local expert in an interview with HelloVidék.
While there was a scarcity of mushrooms in the Zala and Vas forests at the beginning of summer, causing the price of chanterelles to soar to 6,000-7,000 forints per kilogram, the rainy weather of the past month has made a significant impact. Mushroom enthusiasts are now able to gather chanterelles in large quantities from Zala and Vas forests, as well as meadows filled with meadow mushrooms. Due to this surplus supply, the price of chanterelles at markets has nearly halved. Since mushrooms are abundant in various regions of the country, prices have dropped to 3,000-4,000 forints per kilogram in marketplaces.
Additionally, online platforms for buying and selling offer chanterelles at prices ranging from 2,500 to 3,000 forints. If dried in a timely manner, the price of chanterelles can even reach as high as 40,000-50,000 forints.
