Changes in the plant protection product market
The number of active ingredients that can be used is increasingly narrowing, but 2 simple substances (grape seed extract and bulb onion) have been authorized, which has increased the number of products that can be used in plant protection without authorization to 28. In addition, Bacillus subtilis strain RTI477 and Bacillus velezensis strain RTI301 have also been authorized, primarily against fungal diseases.

The fungicide Cuproxat FW will remain authorized, but will not be available for purchase in category III. Previously, this restriction also affected the Score 250 EC product, but due to the ex officio amendment of the National Food Chain Safety Office, certain packaging sizes (5×5 ml; 3×3 ml, 2.5 ml, 3 ml) are still available in free circulation.
The authorisation document for products containing the active substance acetamiprid will be amended from 19 August 2025
The reason for this is the tightening of the MRL level of the active substance, which meant tightening the maximum dose that can be applied and the withdrawal period. It is important to highlight that in the case of parallel marketing and derivative products, the changes in the authorisation of the reference products must also be followed. In the case of Carnadine, the withdrawal period in apples has been changed to 28 days. Leptostar 200 SL can be applied in a dose of 0.15 l/ha in sprouted pepper culture, and 0.2 l/ha in sprouted tomato culture. Furthermore, in cherry and sour cherry cultures, the treatment can be carried out in the period from the beginning of leaf expansion to full flowering (BBCH 11-65). Mospilan 20 SG cannot be used in batavia lettuce, head lettuce, iceberg lettuce, lollo lettuce, romaine lettuce, torn lettuce, folded zucchini, folded peppers, folded cucumbers, watermelons, currants, grapes. In addition, the product cannot be applied against pear aphids. In apple crops, the usable dose is changed to 0.255 kg/ha, in quince to 0.375 kg/ha against scale insects, apple moths, leaf miners and leaf miners. In nectarine and peach crops, the usable dose is changed to 0.255 kg/ha against moth pests, scale insects and leaf miners, and in apricot crops, the dose is changed to 0.255 kg/ha against wireworms and plum aphids. Before treatment, it is always worth checking the product’s license document on the authority’s website. As of July 9, Sumi Alfa 5 EC, Karate Zeon 5 CS, Decis Forte, and Mospilan 20 SG insecticides have received an emergency license under the conditions stated in the license document, against Italian locust, Moroccan locust, and other locust species in the crops listed in the document from July 10 to September 30, 2025.
