The Eszterházy Károly Catholic University will start further training in religious tourism from autumn
Further training in religious tourism will be launched at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University, announced on Friday, on the occasion of the ceremonial signing of the document on the launch of the training, the ministerial commissioner responsible for the coordination of the measures necessary for the implementation of the National Religious Tourism Action Plan in Eger.
Lőrinc Nacsa spoke about it in his welcome speech: this will be more than a simple tour guide or tourist specialist training, because here you have to master not only the profession, but also the spirituality necessary for the religious field.
The government strongly supports the value-preserving work of churches, he said. He emphasized: the churches are entrusted with precious treasures left over from the past, to be cherished, which they have a serious responsibility to present. Not selfishly, but so that tourists can meet each other, God and centuries-old values in these places, because this is not only our heritage, but also our future – he added. According to him, one of the biggest competitive advantages of religious tourism destinations and places of pilgrimage in Hungary in Europe is that visitors can find living communities here. The government supports the launch of religious tourism training because it considers it important that qualified professionals take part in this work, since domestic pilgrimage and religious tourism serves the spiritual good of visitors and the Hungarian people, he said.
