Something has to be done to increase sales
Social and political changes both have their influence on consumer behaviour. When sales in a certain category or of a brand start falling, market players realise that something has to be done. For instance they may ask: Does it worth redesigning the packaging of a branded beauty product? Well, several factors need to be considered before doing so: What is the consumer opinion of the category? How do they see the brand in comparison with other brands? A consumer survey can help answer these questions and the manufacturer can make the right decision. It may turn out that the packing has only small influence on shopper decisions and it is more the brand and the product image which are key factors. On the contrary, the survey may find that it was consumers’ lifestyle that changed and this is why they started buying another product.
