Cattle sent to the slaughter
Agricultural Eonomics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and fruit/vegetable products. Their latest market report reveals that decrease in the production price of domestic slaughter pig continued, on Week 39 the HUF 389/kg price was 3 percent lower than a year earlier. The share of import pig was 39 percent on the same week. There was no significant change on the world’s cattle market last month. Beef production is decreasing in the European Union; consequently, its live cattle and beef export was down by 17 percent, with import up 4 percent in the first half of 2009. In Hungary, the cattle stock decreased by 3 percent in terms of live weight in the first seven months. Domestic poultry meat sales were down by 8 percent.
