Wildcat strike at several Mohu Budapest locations
On the morning of September 24, an unannounced, so-called wildcat strike began at Mohu Budapest’s Ecseri út site, which was also joined by the Rákospalota waste incinerator and the company’s District II site. Several hundred workers participated in the work stoppage.
According to the company’s statement, no negotiator has been appointed for the strike, so management is unable to negotiate for the time being. Mohu Budapest emphasized that a wage agreement valid for 2025 is in force with the two interest groups, HVDSZ2000 and BKDSZ, and therefore the work stoppage is considered illegal. The company asked the workers to return to work in the interest of the continuity of public services.
According to the employees’ complaints, the protest is not only about wages, but also about working conditions: there is a shortage of hygiene kits, work clothes, boots, and parts for garbage trucks.
