Dry wines finding their way to the consumer
Domestic wine consumption continued to grow last year. Half of the households buy wine occasionally, while 41 per cent never consume wine. Average consumption was 20,1 litres per household in 2004 and 21,1 litres in 2005. Both dry and seeet wines have gained in popularity at the expense of semisweet wines. Semidry wines still hold a 9 per cent market share. Discount stores generate most wine sales with a market share of 30 per cent. Hyper markets also increased their market share, while small stores and chains of small stores recorded less sales.
