The first trademarked product of the year, live grass carp, is swimming in success
It is a great pleasure for the Excellent Quality Food (KMÉ) trademark that in the first days of 2024 we can welcome not only the new year, but also our newest trademarked product, live grass carp. Congratulations to the Ráckeve Danube Fishing Association, which was the first to join the KMÉ national quality system in the live fish category.
Amur, a member of the carp family, is native to northern China and Siberia. It was named after the Amur River on the border of the two countries. It was naturalized in Hungary in 1963. Although it is originally a river fish, it is now also bred in lakes and reservoirs in almost all parts of the world, as it effectively cleans them of proliferating aquatic plants. The economic importance of the Amur is further enhanced by its good meat quality and fast and economical growth.
However, there is more to certifying excellent quality
In the fish production units of the Danube Fishing Association in Ráckeve, grass carp is bred under very high-level conditions. The fish grow in a stress-free environment with optimal flow water and oxygen levels. They are fed with strictly GMO-free feed. Their state of health is checked regularly, and their density is adjusted according to animal welfare regulations. Thanks to the combined fulfillment of all these, the association only offers for sale live grass carp of such quality that it can rightly bear the KMÉ trademark.
