EU alert system for food safety
The report on the annual food and feed safety alarm system has been released.
The annual report on the EU food and feed safety alert system (RASFF system) was published today. The report shows that in 2012, almost 50 percent of the notifications
were related to food safety risks. Due to food and feed related risks several shipments of food and feed products were turned back at the EU's borders. The RASFF system is existing for over 30 years. It is an information tool that facilitates information flow across the borders between national food safety authorities, and plays a key role in providing a high level of food safety standarts for the European citizens.
