EU school meal program: 30 million children received healthy food last year
About 30 million children received fruit, vegetables and milk in the 2016-2017 shool year through an EU school meal program across Europe – the European Commission reported on Thursday.
According to recent estimates, more than 12 million children participated in the EU School Fruit and Vegetable Program in 79,000 European schools last year, and about 18 million in the School Milk Program.
As mentioned, approximately 74,000 tons of vegetables and fruits and 285,000 tons of dairy products were distributed, mainly for schoolchildren aged between 6 and 10 years. (MTI)
