EU survey More than 6 million lost their jobs in the first wave of the epidemic
The first wave of the coronavirus pandemic has led to the loss of more than 6 million jobs in the European Union, and temporary workers and young women have been hit twice as hard by unemployment as during the 2008 financial crisis – according to Eurofound, the EU’s institutional system. The survey was released by the agency on Thursday.
According to the analysis, 5.7 million fewer people were employed in the EU by spring 2020 than at the end of 2019, and 6.3 million fewer people were in work in the same year than the employment trend projected before the pandemic. (MTI)
