Aldi discount chain in Haßloch, south-west Germany, not far from Frankfurt, is testing a permanent operating machine called “ALDImat” to compensate for its shorter opening hours – origo wrote, after Retaildetail.eu. The machine offers forty products for grilling and for breakfast needs.

This is the world’s first ALDImat, which sells all the products you may need outside the store’s opening hours. Its introduction was justified by the fact that the opening hours of the stores are more limited than those of most competitors, therefore the discount chain suffers losses in sales of products related to late night garden baking and early morning.

Automated sales can be one way for the store chain to reduce its losses. (origo)
