New subsidies help animal breeders
The Ministry of Agriculture is supporting the sustainability of domestic animal husbandry with two completely new measures with a total budget of HUF 22 billion. The rural development call for tenders for the compensation payment for the fight against antimicrobial resistance and animal welfare support for beef cattle has been published within the framework of the KAP Strategy Plan until 2027.
The application entitled “Compensation payment for the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR)” (code number KAP-RD33b-1-24) promotes the prevention of the development of antimicrobial resistance in animal husbandry-type, large-scale commodity-producing pig, poultry and cattle farms. The call provides normative, non-reimbursable support for sampling and resistance testing. Beneficiaries can receive HUF 657 per farm per year for complying with their obligations during the 5-year commitment period. The call “Animal welfare support in the beef cattle sector” (code number KAP-RD31-1-24) supports the improvement of the housing, feeding and hygiene conditions of female beef cattle herds older than 7 months. The announcement helps to improve animal welfare conditions by encouraging the provision of more caretaker supervision, protection against internal and external parasites, the use of mineral supplements, the provision of hoof care and extra bedding, as well as the provision of more living space and pasture. During the 5-year commitment period, farmers can receive a non-refundable contribution of up to EUR 258.5 per animal per year for the combined observance of mandatory and optional regulations. It will be possible to submit support applications in the period from June 3, 2024 to July 3, 2024.
