Additional restrictions to preserve the GMO-free status of the Hungarian agriculture
In order to preserve the GMO-free (genetically modified organisms-free) status of the Hungarian agriculture, the rural development minister introduces additional restrictive measures.
The regulation was published on Monday in the Magyar Közlöny, and will enter into force on Tuesday. The regulation contains that who imports corn, soybeans and canola seeds for the first time from other EU Member States or third world countries should indicate it to the Agricultural Administration Office (MgSzH). The MgSzH tests the GMO-free of the seeds on the basis of a risk assessment, and after the notification, indicates its investigating intention within five days. (MTI)
