Inspectors of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) identified hygiene conditions posing a serious food safety risk during an inspection of a bakery in Baracska. Due to the violations discovered, the authority suspended the unit’s activities with immediate effect and withdrew almost 500 kg of food from circulation. The procedure and the imposition of a fine are in progress.

Nébih experts uncovered serious food chain safety deficiencies in the bakery in Baracska during an on-site inspection. The entire area of the factory was dirty, contaminated, and uncleaned, and the handwashing stations in several rooms lacked hygienic handwashing conditions. There were live and dead insects (flies, cockroaches) throughout the factory. Condensation water flowed from the proofing cabinets onto the floor and into a bucket. The trays in the proofing and baking room were dirty and heavily soiled, and the end of the baking sheet was chipped.

In addition to the hygiene problems, the inspectors found that the food business did not keep production and traceability documentation related to the breadcrumbs and pizza foods produced.

Due to the serious deficiencies, the Nébih suspended the unit’s activities with immediate effect. The authority also immediately withdrew 9 items, a total of 488.84 kg of untraceable and expired food, and prohibited their placing on the market and use.

The experts also ordered the recall of breadcrumbs and pizza items produced in the plant that still had an adequate shelf life.

The unit was allowed to continue its activities after correcting the food hygiene and food safety errors and deficiencies, following a favorable on-site inspection by the authority. The procedure and the determination of the fine are still in progress.

The data of the affected company are available at in violation list.
