Auchan hit by another cyberattack
Auchan has been hit by another cyberattack: the French retail chain says the personal data of hundreds of thousands of customers has fallen into unauthorized hands. This is the second such incident in less than a year, Retail Detail reported.
Personal data compromised
The hackers obtained the names, email addresses, addresses, phone numbers and loyalty card numbers of customers. The company stressed that no bank details or passwords were leaked and that the attack was contained.
Auchan has notified the affected customers and also informed the French data protection authority (CNIL) about the incident.
A recurring problem
This is not the first time: in November 2023, the data of half a million customers may have been stolen from the retail chain. In connection with the current attack, it has emerged that not only French but also Belgian customers may have been affected, as the company also operates a hypermarket in Roncq, near the Belgian border.
