Green innovation in Hungarian style. The Blue Planet Water Fund has entered the Hungarian-developed, water-efficient car wash network with a fresh capital investment of 100 million forints and a preferential loan of 150 million forints. In addition to the Blue Planet Water Fund, several private investors have also voted their confidence in the company, so they have an additional 70 million forints of capital at their disposal to implement their ambitious plans. Cleango is already preparing to enter the international market, while they are also expanding in more and more places in Hungary.

The Hungarian-founded Cleango is gaining momentum: the startup developing sustainable car wash technology recently closed its latest round of capital investment, in which it received a capital investment of 100 million forints and a preferential loan of 150 million from the Blue Planet Water Fund. The goal: to prepare for domestic expansion and the development of existing services, as well as entering the international market. The first stops in the domestic expansion are Székesfehérvár and Debrecen, for now on a B2B line, but by the end of the year they will also appear in other cities – and the residential service is also planned to start. The opening of the foreign market is not long in coming, and negotiations are currently underway to launch in Vienna.

Over the past 5 years, the founders of Cleango have adapted their service based on practical feedback to attract as many users as possible. Nothing better proves the success of their strategy than the fact that the company, which generated net sales of only 20 million HUF in 2021, increased its turnover more than 12-fold in three years and closed last year with net sales of 256 million HUF.

Green-tech innovation at the service of motorists

Cleango started as a water-saving and chemical-free mobile car wash, but is now positioning itself as a green-tech innovation. Only 5 deciliters of water are used to clean a car – compared to the 120-140 liters of water consumed by traditional car washes, this number speaks for itself. The business has now completed more than 70 thousand car washes, with 36 thousand customers, and saved the planet more than 7 million liters of drinking water – this is equivalent to the annual water consumption of approximately 50 families. Cleango was a childhood dream of Áron Kaczur, and in 2020, on the show Cápák között, Péter Balogh and Gyula Fehér both voted their confidence in the young founder with a total investment of 30 million, and in 2021, the company successfully closed a 57 million forint investment round, when Hiventures, part of the MFB group, also joined the ranks of investors. And there has been no stopping since then, the business currently has a total of 14 investors.

Nanotechnology behind cleanliness

The uniqueness of Cleango lies not only in its mobility, but also in the technology used. The cleaning agents based on nanotechnology surround the dirt and, when sprayed on the surface, form a kind of safety wax layer that can be easily removed with a microfiber cloth. This not only protects the car’s paintwork, but also provides a 48-hour dust and water repellent effect. In addition, all materials used are biodegradable.
