On January 1, 2026, Zoltán Magyari, the current Deputy CEO, took over the management of Continental Dohányipari Zrt. from Csaba Füzi, who had been the CEO of the company since June 2005. Following the direction set by his predecessor, the new leader considers predictable development and increasing operational efficiency as his primary task, adapting to changes in the highly regulated tobacco market environment.

Csaba Füzi held the position of CEO of Continental Dohányipari Zrt. for more than twenty years, and from January 1, 2026, he will support the work of the new management as an advisor for six months, until his retirement. The new leader, Zoltán Magyari, previously worked as Deputy CEO with Csaba Füzi, so the change ensures continuity of operations along a clear strategy, the company’s predictable development in the medium and long term, and effective adaptation to changes in the tobacco industry.

Under the leadership of Csaba Füzi, Continental Dohányipari Zrt. has undergone significant development: the company’s staff has grown from 170 to more than 900 people, making it one of the largest employers in Sátoraljaújhely and its region. Numerous successful investments and product developments can be attributed to the previous CEO, while the company has strengthened its presence in both the domestic and international markets. The introduction and ramp-up of natural tobacco-wrapped cigar production and the related expansion technology, as well as several innovative technological developments, played an important role in the expansion.

Throughout his career, Csaba Füzi has been committed to supporting the survival of Hungarian tobacco production, the company’s foreign expansion and the development of its international network. Thanks to this, Continental’s products manufactured in Sátoraljaújhely are now sold in 40 countries.

Zoltán Magyari takes over the management of the company with more than 25 years of senior management experience, which he gained at multinational FMCG, food, plastic and tobacco companies before joining Continental. He previously held factory director and deputy factory director positions at Nestlé, FrieslandCampina and Serioplast, with decision-making responsibility for business success. His professional career is characterized by a commitment to operational excellence: he has implemented complex cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects, CapEx investments, and programs aimed at introducing LEAN and TPM systems.

“It is a great honor for me to take over the CEO duties from Csaba Füzi as of January 1, 2026. I value the results that have been achieved under his leadership over the past two decades. I would like to continue the direction he has set by strengthening our operations, developing a long-term competitive corporate culture, and adapting to the new challenges of the regulated tobacco industry environment.”

Continental Dohányipari Zrt. is the only Hungarian family-owned player in the tobacco industry.
