Hemp is experiencing a renaissance: while it was previously primarily a fiber plant, its nutritional use (hemp seeds, hemp seed oil, hemp flour) and CBD-containing extracts are now increasingly the focus of attention – writes Agrárszektor.

According to the article, hemp seeds are outstanding among plant protein sources and appear in the kitchen in several forms: the peeled seeds can be sprinkled on salads and porridge; cold-pressed, distinctively flavored hemp seed oil can be used as a salad dressing; hemp flour can be used as a protein-rich, gluten-free ingredient for baking or thickening; and “hemp seed milk” can be made as a plant-based alternative.

In parallel with the expansion of the HORECA and retail offering, researchers/summaries highlight that hemp seed oil and CBD oil are two products that differ in their purpose and production. The former is a food oil pressed from seeds, while the latter is a concentrated extract made from the inflorescences/leaves of the plant.

It is difficult to find your way around because there may be “confusion” on the market: examples include products that communicate with large numbers (“Hemp oil 100,000 mg”), while in fact they only contain hemp seed oil, without CBD. To preserve the quality of both products, it is important to store them in a cool place, protected from light (for hemp seed oil, refrigeration is recommended after opening)
