Agricultural cooperation with Mongolia is entering a new level
Minister of Agriculture István Nagy signed a letter of intent to strengthen agricultural and food industry relations, meeting with Javkhlan Bold, Minister of Finance of Mongolia, at the Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the minister spoke about agriculture being one of the pillars of the Mongolian economy. Unfortunately, due to the extreme cold, the sector suffers huge damages, but in this extraordinary situation, our country is ready to provide assistance to the Central Asian country. István Nagy reminded that before last year Hungarian agriculture also had to deal with a historical crisis. He explained that Mongolia’s agriculture is undergoing serious development, one of the stages of which is that they are opening up in other directions in terms of nomadic animal husbandry. That is why it is important to exchange experience and further strengthen scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries. Hungarian companies and enterprises, as well as educational institutions, are ready to transfer their experience to their Mongolian partners. Important cooperation between the two countries can be established in the fields of agricultural technologies, the poultry sector or seed production, he added.
In the framework of the meeting, a letter of intent for cooperation was also signed. The partnership agreement covers, among other things, the modernization of agricultural machinery, the preservation of animal genetic resources, irrigation development, and forestry issues. At the meeting, Minister of Finance Javkhlan Bold invited Minister István Nagy to Mongolia for an official visit.
