A new method: the customer can pick up the eggs
Several large supermarket chains are considering to introduce bulk egg sales in Hungary – the Agrarszektor.hu wrote. The new method is that the buyers themselves choose the eggs they wanrt to buy. According to the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH), the new sales method raises a number of food safety and traceability issues.
The Auchan Magyarország Kft. is selling bulk eggs “experimentaly,” in one of its hypermarket in Budapest. The department store chain told Agrárszektor.hu that the company is testing the new marketing method in its Óbuda-based hypermarket. The new marketing method is expected to be extendet to Auchan’s Budaörs-based unit as well. After the assessment of the experiences a decision will be born, whether to extend the bulk selling of eggs to the other stores. (agrarszektor.hu)
