The cooperation between Auchan and Munch has reached another significant milestone: customers received the 100,000th Munch package in Hungary. The result clearly shows that Munch has now become an integral part of the daily food rescue process of Auchan stores, while customers also actively contribute to reducing waste.

Auchan introduced the Munch service in all 24 stores in Hungary on May 8, 2024. Since then, store employees have been carefully putting together the various Munch packages every day, which contain products that are close to their expiration date but of high quality. In addition to fruit and vegetable and bakery packages, Mix packages can also contain fresh dairy products, cold cuts, as well as non-perishable foods and international specialties. With the help of Munch packages, customers can get quality products for up to a third of the original price, while actively taking action against food waste.

The demand for the packages is exceptionally high: Auchan Munch packages often sell out within minutes, which clearly shows the commitment of customers and the popularity of the initiative. Customer reviews are also extremely positive, confirming the dedication, care and high quality of the packages of Auchan employees.

Due to the extraordinary interest, Munch has also implemented dedicated IT developments in order to ensure fair access for all users. As part of this, the packages will be available in the application at varying times, giving more customers the chance to save food.

To support the success of the collaboration, Auchan has also introduced IT developments that have further increased the efficiency of assembling packages.

“Food saving is one of the key pillars of Auchan’s sustainability strategy. We are proud that together with our customers we have already saved 100,000 Munch packages, and with this we have taken a tangible step towards reducing waste. The commitment of our employees and the openness of our customers play a key role in this success”

– said Ildikó Balázs, Corporate Relations, Communications and ESG Director.

“100,000 packages saved is an important milestone that clearly shows the strong impact we can achieve with a committed national partner. Together with Auchan, we prove that food saving is not only a sustainability initiative, but also a solution that customers actively seek and value. The outstanding demand for Auchan packages and the extremely positive feedback clearly demonstrate the partner’s commitment and the success of the program”

– said Kirill Perepelica, co-founder of Munch.

Auchan and Munch aim to further strengthen the fight against waste in the future and make sustainable, affordable alternatives available to even more customers.
