Sopron has a new gamay wine
The gamay (kékfrankos) wine of the year is traditionally selected every year in Sopron. After the selection, the wine is not only promoted by the local government, but also given as a representative gift.
The Sopron wine region took part on the contest with 17 samples of 14 producers. In the Forum Vinorum, which is the historical city center of Sopron, the jury selected the best three wines on Friday. The winner became the 2011 vintage Gamay barrel wine of the Iváncsics Winery, followed by the 2011 vintage Gamay of the Töltl winery and th e2011 vintage Balf Gamay of the Weninger Winery.
