A new collaborator has joined Mol’s plastic waste utilization
Mol and Lummus Technology are cooperating in the chemical recycling of plastic waste, Mol told MTI on Tuesday.
Mol justified the cooperation by fulfilling its strategic goals. According to the statement, their annual recycling capacity of 40,000 tons would be increased to several 100,000 tons, and they are also confident that Lummus’ technology will contribute to the sustainability of their business activities. Mol is aware of its crucial role in the circular economy, and therefore considers it important to build a strong plastic recycling and waste integration portfolio, they wrote.
Lummus is confident that the cooperation will help to further develop sustainable solutions
Their technology, which transforms plastic waste into high-value raw materials, is used in Mol’s plants in Hungary and Slovakia. The company thus offers a solution that helps with waste management in a reliable and economically sustainable manner, without the production of solid coke, they added. According to the announcement, Lummus Technology operates in the fields of clean fuels, renewable energy sources, petrochemical products, polymers, and gas processing. According to the presentation on its website, the American company offers its customers, among other things, catalysts and engineering services.
