Employment reached a new peak in June
Employment reached a new peak, 31,000 new jobs were created in the domestic primary labor market in one year, the number of public employees decreased by 7,000, and the number of people commuting abroad was 7,000 more compared to the same period of the previous year, so the smoothed three-month figure considered as a reference average, i.e. in the April-June average, the total number of employees was 4,724,000.
In the previous month, 67.7% of the 15-74-year-old population was present on the labor market, compared to the 66.6% activity rate measured in the same month of the seasonally comparable last year and the 67.0% level measured in the previous month. In the same month, the unemployment rate according to the international statistical methodology was 3.8%, following the 3.8% in the previous month, and the 3.4% level measured in the same month of the previous year.
In June 2023, there were 224,200 jobseekers in the register of the National Employment Service, which is 6,000 fewer than in the same period of the previous year. In the month in question, a total of 29.5 thousand jobseekers requested to be registered, of which the proportion of those registering for the first time was 11.9%. The number of new registrants increased by 7.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, but their number is still minimal. In June 2023, employers announced a total of 24,700 vacant positions, so overall, 95,200 job opportunities were available in the month, of which 74,500 remained unfilled by the end of the month, after 70,500 in the previous month.
