Coca-Cola launches new 0.85 litre bottle in Germany
Coca-Cola is launching a new PET bottle size in Germany for the first time in 17 years. The new 0.85-litre bottle will be available from April, and the company mainly targets single customers and smaller households, Lebensmittelpraxis reports.
The new bottle, exclusively made from recycled PET, will be used for Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Sprite and Mezzo Mix.
According to Arne Koslowski, vice president of commercial development at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Germany, the new size fills a gap in the German market, where there is a growing demand for bottles containing more than half a litre but less than one litre. Currently, up to 10% of soft drinks sales in food retail fall into this category.
The company stressed that the new bottle will also be cheaper than the previous 1-litre PET bottle.
Coca-Cola has invested €1.5 million to adapt the production lines for the new packaging. The new bottles will be filled at the Dorsten, Genshagen and Knetzgau plants and will only be available on the German market for the time being.
