We spend as much time in front of the telly as before, but we watch more commercials
In 2021 Hungarians spent 4 hours and 54 minutes in front of the television on average, which was just 1 minute less than in the previous year – reveals the latest Nielsen Audience Measurement report. However, back in 2020 viewers only watched commercials for 32.5 minutes per day, but by 2021 this time increased to 35.6 minutes. The average viewer saw 142 television commercials every day, 15 more than in the previous year.
In 2021 505 advertisers aired advertisements for 1,009 brands in 7,502 different commercials, from which 6,480 were completely new. Most commercials advertised medicinal products (3,822 thousand), then came retail (3,542 thousand) and food (2,191 thousand). The most frequently advertised product category was FMCG retail (931 thousand), followed by hypermarkets (739 thousand) and ‘other medicinal products’ (694 thousand). //
