Fire breaks out at Kometa meat factory in Kaposvár, no one injured
A fire broke out in a service room of the Kometa meat plant in Kaposvár early Monday morning. According to the Disaster Management Authority, thanks to the quick intervention of professional firefighters from Kaposvár, Dombóvár and Sásd, the flames were brought under control in a short time – reports Telex.
The fire did not spread further, the production rooms and the refrigeration department remained intact, but significant smoke was leaking from the affected room. During the extinguishing, the building’s sandwich panel structure was also dismantled, and six workers were escorted to a safe place. An ammonia pipeline was also damaged during the incident, but the hazardous substance was successfully neutralized, and no harmful concentrations were measured in the area.
