MTÜ: tourism is in a dramatic situation
World tourism has never been in such a position as it is now due to the coronavirus epidemic; the situation is dramatic – Guller Zoltán, CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) said in a background interview on Thursday.
He added that Europe had 89 percent fewer flights from other continents than a year ago, and European tourism will fall by 85 percent by Easter.
The government expects the virus to peak in Hungary in June, and the situation is changing very fast, he said, citing the fact that the NGO’s Mahart Passnave has canceled everything after 32 cancellations yesterday, with no hotel ship coming to Budapest by the end of April.
