Tourist agency: government measures support tourism-related businesses with 30 billion HUF
The government’s tourism subsidies are of historic importance, because the measures will leave HUF 30 billion for around a hundred thousand tourism small and medium-sized enterprises in the next six months, the CEO of the Hungarian Tourist Agency (MTÜ) declared at a press conference on Tuesday in Budapest.
Péter Horváth added: the affected parties can also cover the increased energy prices or wages. The measures affect the tourism development contribution, the working time frame, the SZÉP card regulation, the provision of data to the National Tourist Information Center (Ntak), the accommodation rating, and the VIZA data provision – listed the general manager.
The CEO called the suspension of the obligation to pay the 4 percent tourism development contribution between October 1 this year and March 31 next year the fastest and most effective way of government assistance.
He pointed out: the package of measures extended the deadline for the provision of data to the Ntak regarding catering businesses and tourist attractions from January to the first of next July. Until the end of next year, children under the age of 14 will not have to present their documents at accommodation, and for private and other accommodation registered until December 31, 2021, the deadline for registration of the first accommodation qualification has been postponed to January 1, 2024. According to the request of the professional organizations, it was possible to order a working time frame of up to 24 months, this helps to keep the jobs – he underlined.
He also called the planned termination of the sub-accounts of the SZÉP card important. This year, employers topped up HUF 281 billion in ten months, while cardholders spent HUF 326 billion. In October, one billion forints more were added to the accounts than in October last year, and at the end of the month, users had 90 billion forints at their disposal. The goal is for the card to be the engine of domestic tourism even in the winter months, favoring rural service providers as well.
He emphasized that the measures were preceded by consultations with professional organizations. The task is to listen to the feedback and requests of the profession and to continue the negotiations so that the sector continues to be the driving force of the Hungarian economy – he emphasized.
