The average gross hourly wage of skilled and trained workers performing manual labor was 2,270 forints in the second quarter of this year, a 7.9 percent increase compared to the 2,104 forints measured in the same period of the previous year, Trenkwalder and Moore Hungary told MTI on Tuesday.

Trenkwalder, which deals with labor leasing and mediation, processed the wage data of almost 7,000 employees.

The geographical breakdown revealed that there are only two regions in the country where the average hourly wage for manual labor does not reach 2,000 forints: in Southern Transdanubia and Northern Hungary, this value is between 1,900 and 2,000 forints.

They added that Central Transdanubia and Central Hungary, which includes the capital, stand out from the field: in the former region, the average hourly wage is close to 2,400 forints, while in the latter areas this value is already around 3,000 forints.

The announcement quoted Viktor Hamrák, service director at Trenkwalder, who said that although it is below last year’s 13.5 percent rate, the 7.9 percent annual wage growth rate still ensures more than 3 percent real wage growth.

At the same time, the consulting and auditing firm Moore Hungary examined the salary data of almost 500 middle managers working at the Hungarian subsidiaries of more than 60 international companies. For employees working in the monthly gross salary range between HUF 800,000 and HUF 1.2 million, the wage increase was 7.3 percent on average in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Péter Hajnal, Managing Partner of Moore Hungary, noted in the announcement that the wage increase among intellectual middle managers is currently in line with the overall labor market average, which also ensures a real wage increase of almost 3 percent in this group of employees.

They also mentioned that middle managers of business service centers (BSCs), which already employ more than 60,000 people nationwide, have received a wage increase of almost 7 percent over the past 12 months, according to Moore Hungary data.
