Trenkwalder: wages of manual workers increased by an average of about 6 percent in January
The average gross hourly wage of skilled and trained workers performing manual labor increased by an average of 5.9 percent in January this year compared to December last year, Trenkwalder told MTI on Wednesday, based on its analysis of the wage data of almost 5,000 employees.
According to the statement of the company dealing with labor leasing and mediation, the wage increase of approximately 6 percent ensures an average real wage increase of one and a half percent among blue-collar workers.
However, they indicated that the picture is not uniform: while 36 percent of employees did not see their salaries change, 21 percent of employees received a wage increase of more than 10 percent, 24 percent received a wage increase of between 5 and 10 percent, and 19 percent received a wage increase of between 0 and 5 percent.
The announcement quoted Viktor Hamrák, Trenkwalder’s service director, as saying
some companies are waiting to implement this year’s wage increase for several reasons. Due to the unfavorable market environment, companies in many industries were unable to generate the funds for a general wage increase; they mostly only implemented mandatory adjustments among the affected workers due to the minimum wage increase.
According to the expert, elsewhere, where slightly more favorable results have been achieved but there is also a need to reserve resources, they are waiting out of caution and will only take action in the second or third quarter. This will allow them to save the amount of the wage increase for the first few months, and in the meantime, it will be clear in which direction the markets are moving.
Trenkwalder, which has been present in Hungary for more than 25 years in the field of labor leasing and mediation, placed more than 13 thousand employees with more than half a thousand partners in 2024, with a net revenue of 28.9 billion forints.
Trenkwalder International AG employs more than 50,000 people and is present in 16 European countries with more than 300 branches. Since 2011, Trenkwalder has been a member of the German Droege International AG group.
