Tradition is a trend
In Hungary the average basket value in a bakery is between HUF 250 and 380. One bakery generally needs to serve 1,000-1,300 customers to sustain itself. Obviously bigger bakeries located in the city centre must have twice as big a basket value to get by. This can be achieved by offering premium category baked goods or creative products such as Eggy Bread or confectionery products. One of the major trends in Hungary these days is to emphasise traditions and the fact that a product is Hungarian made. It is of key importance for bakeries to operate reliably: customers need to be sure that when they come at a given time of the day, they will get what they want – possibly fresh products from morning to evening.
